Listening to Legacy, Building for the Future

Glenda Taylor, Bonnie Williams and Shaun Castillo- Twinsburg Historical Society

This past week, I met with two remarkable women — Glenda Taylor and Bonnie Williams — whose family names are deeply woven into the very fabric of Twinsburg.

Glenda is a proud descendant of the Chamberlin family, the namesake behind R. B. Chamberlin Middle School, Chamberlin Park, and Chamberlin Road. Bonnie, a dedicated community leader, is a descendant of the Bissell family, whose legacy includes Bissell Elementary School, Bissell Drive, the last remaining farm in Twinsburg, and the historic Twinsburg Institute, built by Samuel Bissell in 1866 — now home to the Twinsburg Historical Society, where Bonnie serves as President, following in her mother's footsteps.

Both women own property in the heart of Downtown Twinsburg, and during our conversation, one theme was clear: the past, present, and future of our city center are connected — and its revival must be grounded in history while boldly looking forward.

As a candidate for Twinsburg City Council, I believe deeply in the value of listening first — especially to the residents, business owners, and legacy families who know our community best. The vision for a revitalized downtown begins with conversations like this, where tradition meets opportunity.

Twinsburg’s charm is one of its greatest assets — and by working together with local business owners and community leaders, we can preserve that charm while creating a vibrant, walkable downtown district that attracts families, entrepreneurs, and visitors alike.

I’m committed to building a strong, solution-oriented partnership with stakeholders across the community — and that includes exploring opportunities to better program Twinsburg’s historic square, and working hand-in-hand with Twinsburg Township to build alignment and energy around a shared future.

My approach to leadership is simple: listen well, act boldly, and stay rooted in community values. I am pro-business development, committed to responsible growth, and passionate about strengthening the connections that make Twinsburg such a special place to call home.

This is how we honor our past and shape our future — together.

If you'd like to connect, share your ideas, or get involved in the campaign, I’d love to hear from you.
