Honoring the Legacy. Embracing the Future. Together.

Today, I had the honor of attending the 50th Anniversary of Twins Day Double Take Parade. The energy in Twinsburg was undeniable. From neighbors gathering along the parade route to visitors from across the country (and even the globe!), the spirit of community and celebration was everywhere.

It’s events like this that remind us how special our city really is. Our name, Twinsburg, is more than just a clever nod to our founders, Moses and Aaron Wilcox. It’s a story. A legacy. A unique identity that the entire world gathers here each year to celebrate.

But what if we could do even more with it?

Today got me thinking — much like Punxsutawney, PA turned their local tradition into a year-round economic driver and source of civic pride with Punxsutawney Phil, maybe it’s time for Twinsburg to truly embrace its twin heritage beyond the first weekend of August.

Let’s imagine together:

  • A year-round celebration of what it means to be a “Twin City”

  • Heritage programming that highlights our history, arts, and shared stories

  • Marketing initiatives that draw tourists and dollars to support local businesses

  • Expanded community events that build pride and visibility throughout the year

And just as importantly, let’s talk about Twinsburg Square—our city’s historic heart.

Many don’t realize that the Square isn’t actually operated by the City of Twinsburg, but by Twinsburg Township. And with their recent improvements, the timing couldn’t be better to come to the table together. Let’s build a joint venture—a real partnership to program, maintain, and celebrate the Square as the beating heart of the entire community.

It’s time to reimagine what’s possible—not in silos, but side by side. We can honor our past while building something even more vibrant for our future.

As a candidate for City Council At-Large, I believe in doing the hard work, listening, and building coalitions that move us forward. I believe our heritage is powerful—and our unity is even more so.

Twinsburg deserves a future as bold and exciting as its legacy. Let's make it happen—together.
